Ratrawee, from Thailand, who looked the most stunning and convincing, then she looked a little bit disappointed as her dream of being the second Miss International Queen from Thailand didn’t come through. If one could remember “Nong Poy”, the winner of Miss International Queen 2004 has stunned the world with her beauty that left some of the real-girls in doubt and last year the blond hair transvestite lady Mini Marks was crowned Miss International Queen 2005 under strong critics that this was the first time an Asian transvestite lady has lost the title to a blond.

What about the saying, ’Thailand is supposed to have the most beautiful transvestites and transsexuals in the world’ , may be he looks too much like a ‘she’.

TAT governor selection committee president

Kriangsak Lohochala said applicants may need time to prepare the necessary documentation, which includes a five-page paper on their vision for the tourism industry and how he or she plans to manage the authority.

There is also the possibility that TAT officials are reluctant to present their applications until the political situation is clearer. In the past TAT executives who were unsuccessful were often demoted or placed in non-active posts by the successful candidate, who has always been an insider.

Koh Chang Trad in Thailand

Koh Chang Located in the eastern part of Thailand Travel, Koh Chang is close to the border of Cambodia. Around 85 percent of Koh Chang , along with 50 smaller islands, is part of the Thailand Travel Koh Chang Marine National Park. Clear waters of various blue shades surround the island while a terrain of high peaks and steep cliffs provide magnificent scenic points.

In a matter of years, Koh Chang

Koh Chang Koh Chang has undergone a huge change. Back then, only the simplest accommodation was offered. But now, Koh Chang is a boom town where the range has extended from economically priced bungalows to luxury resorts. To maintain the landscape of Koh Chang as unspoiled possible, a law has been enforced to limit the height of buildings on the island at 3 storeys. Water treatment system is required for new construction projects whereas island residents are discouraged for cutting down trees.

Thailand Travel Koh Chang In 2003

Koh Chang was able to get a special status that meant less bureaucratic management while the government would finance infrastructure like waste water treatment facilities, garbage treatment sites and piers. While it is a place that faces more rapid growth, the community

tries its best to maintain an ecologically sound environment

Majority of the resorts in Koh Chang are thatched roof bungalows sitting on spacious land and long beaches. At the same time, plush hotels and resorts providing luxury services with modern architecture and amenities are fast becoming more numerous.

The beaches of Thailand Travel Koh Chang

The beaches are like characters from a fiction story which have their own trait. The most notable, White Sand Beach, is where most people get together. Restaurants, resorts, bars and pubs scatter the area making it the place to go to for nighttime entertainment. Klong Prao Beach (Had Khlong Prao) is distinct because of its more serene environment. Good for those who seek a calm and quiet vacation. The most popular area for those on a tight budget is Kai Bae Beach. Many backpacker-type accommodation are strewn on the area, but are nevertheless of good quality.

Activities Koh Chang

A wide variety of activities are available on the island. A boat trip to smaller satellite islands of the national park is the most common way of spending free time. The beach is only one of the many places to take a dip into. Trek into the interior of the island, and take a plunge in the cool waterfalls. Aside from getting a tan and a massage, a tattoo is just one of the several things that you can take home with you as a souvenir of your vacation.

Kanjanaburi: Graves - War Cemetery in Thailand

Thailand Travel Kanchanaburi, Thailand (AP) -- Rod Beattie sweeps a metal detector over a watermelon field along the River Kwai where six decades ago 2,000 Allied prisoners of war perished. The detector buzzes, and the wiry Australian anxiously claws the earth with his bare hands.

This is just brilliant

" he says, breaking up a clod of soil to reveal a brass badge, a neat likeness of a propeller airplane perhaps crafted by a captured airman longing for the free, blue skies.

Graves - War Cemetery in Thailand

Sweating under the tropical sun, the 54-year-old Australian places the find alongside razors, toothbrushes and belt buckles, surmising these may have been items cremated with prisoners who succumbed to cholera and other diseases at the Chungkai hospital camp.

Graves - War Cemetery in Thailand

Kanjanaburi Graves War Cemetery in ThailandThe fruit of this morning's excavation is headed for a bulging repository of artifacts from the Death Railway, which spelled the deaths of some 100,000 Allied POWs and Asian slave laborers forced to build a line between Thailand and Myanmar for the Japanese army during World War II.

the best of these items

Beattie explains, may find their way into displays of the Thailand-Burma Railway Center, a world-class museum recently opened after four years of painstaking effort by Beattie and several colleagues passionate about telling the story minus the myths and misinformation.

Graves - War Cemetery in Thailand Travel

Until then, Kanchanaburi was poorly served by two small, rather shabby museums and Thai tourist guides who often pass on meager, or outright, fictitious stories. This despite an industry built around the railway, bridge and river which have attracted millions of tourists and piles of cash since Hollywood released its classic film "The Bridge on the River Kwai" in 1957.

Thailand Travel The Bridge on the River Kwai

Beattie says he strived for an unbiased presentation through information panels, photographs, artifacts, video clips and an interactive, detailed topographical map of the 258-mile railway, its stations and POW camps. The collection includes rare Japanese photographs provided by Ranichi Sugano, believed to be the last surviving senior engineer from the railway.

The museum doesn't stint on displays of Japanese cruelty

depicting POWs turned into walking skeletons while hacking through disease-ridden jungles under their captors' guns. But neither does it portray all Japanese soldiers as brutes nor their railway engineers as blustering incompetents.

This place will never be finished

Conditions varied from camp to camp, Japanese soldiers were also subjected to harsh punishment from their officers and some POWs developed decent relations with their guards. Beattie points out that a third of the 10,000 Japanese prisoners under British control in post-war Singapore perished, whereas less than 23 percent of British POWs on the railway died.

The museum has drawn praise from both Japanese visitors and former POWs

"Bloody brilliant," wrote John Reid, of Brisbane, Australia, in the guest book). And even those far too young to remember the war are moved by the displays and a view from the museum's second floor: 6,982 crosses of the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery.

This place will never be finished

It's organic. As I find and discover more things we'll have more to explain and exhibit," says Beattie, a civil engineer from Gympie, Queensland, who became deeply involved with this slice of history in 1994 when he was consulting for a sapphire mining company in Kanchanaburi.

The Bridge on the River Kwai museum

He was later appointed caretaker of the area's two cemeteries by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. A third POW burial ground is located in Myanmar, also known as Burma. Before the advent of the museum, which opened in January, Beattie had logged some 1,240 miles on foot mapping the railway, clearing sections of the invading jungle and collecting artifacts. Beattie, who funded a large chunk of the museum's costs from his own pocket, says he's prepared to borrow against his successful gem-cutting business to keep it going.

Atta Ready for Suvarnabhumi Airport

Suvarnabhumi Airport According to Association of Thai Travel Agents president, Apichart Sankary, ground facilities that will provide fast and efficient transfers for passengers to Suvarnabhumi Airport are crucial factors.

Suvarnabhumi Airport can surely become Asia’s

aviation hub but it needs to establish infrastructure to deliver passengers from the city to the airport conveniently and fast. The train from downtown must deliver service quality and so must the ground staff working at the airport,” he said.

Mr Apichart made the comments as Thai Airways International completed its first landing at the new airport this morning, 29 September.

Atta will establish an office and parking area at the new airport and is requesting space from King Power Company, which is responsible for the area. It requires about 150 sq m for its meet-and-greet services and around 200 to 300 sq m for the operational offices responsible for collecting and keeping data documents. “In additional, we are requesting a tour bus parking area from the Airports of Thailand Public Company possibly as big as 3 to 4 rai, enough to accommodate 100 tour buses,” Mr Apichartsaid.

Aatt has a parking area for up to 50 buses at Don Muang Airport.

TAT held a crisis meeting this morning to assess cancellation and decided the travel show will go on as planned. The show must go on. That’s the final word from the Tourism Authority of Thailand following a meeting this morning where officials did a fast damage assessment of the TTM due to open next early next week.

The show must go on

Officials confirmed to TTR Weekly there had been cancellations from some US and Canadian buyers. It is very likely that sellers from Yunnan and Guangxi provinces will not attend despite already having confirmed booths. TAT officials acknowledged that there could be more cancellations, but nothing like what this particular event suffered just a week after the September 11 2001 terrorist attack in New York. The 2001 TTM, which was held in Pattaya, lost about 20 percent of its confirmed buyers.

There have been some minor casualties

Best Western Asia Pacific confirmed today that it will not host the TTM golf competition, due to the fallout from the coup that successfully ousted caretaker prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. There are still about 20 buyers left on the golf list prepared to one day before the TTM opens. This publication will now host golf and dinner. As of this morning 209 buyers confirmed attendance and 369 sellers affirmed their commitment to attend.
