The Bridge over the River Kwai, Kanchanaburi
The Bridge over the River Kwai is important in history of Thailand, located at Kanchanaburi province. Kanchanaburi is far from Bangkok about 130 Kilometers or about 2-hour for drive. Kanchanaburi have many famous attractions such as The Bridge over the River Kwai, Death Railway, The War Museum, The Jeath War Museum, Sai Yok waterfall, Erawan waterfall and three Pagodas Pass. The Bridge over the River Kwai was built in World War 2 period by Japanese army which force all allied prisoners of war during World War II such as British, American, Australian and Dutch to build the 258 mile Death Railway. This project has to link the way between Thai and Myanmar railway and we use a hundred thousand conscripted Asian laborers and 16,000 prisoners. It is sorrowful that a hundred thousand laborers and prisoners of war died with this project. The Bridge over the River Kwai is far from Kanchanaburi province about 4 Kilometers, highway No. 323.
